Chapter Three

3.

I have to talk to someone soon.  I need to tell someone something.  Anything.  I don’t even have to talk about the shooting.

It’s the waiting that is killing me.

I guess I expected a weight to be lifted off my shoulders.  I lost sight of the consequences.  He was trying to kill me, officer.  It was me or him.  Honestly.  This isn’t cold blood, it was merely survival.  For months now he’s made my life a misery and I still don’t even know why.  I know it was him because he shouldn’t have been there.  He wasn’t meant to be there which means that he was there to get me.  Any reasonable person would have done the same.

It’s my defence and I’m sticking to it.

            There’s someone coming.
